Meet The Team

Our Facilitators

Our facilitating team is a collective of highly trained, qualified and experienced mental health clinicians and therapists; our team consists of eleven individuals seven of which have been additionally trained, five to an advanced level of WRAP® facilitation and two to an advanced level of MHFA®. Our teams of facilitators have been delivering a service user format of WRAP® within the health service for the past few years and have seen major improvements in the lives of those who have attended this training alongside our workplace wellness programmes and our community services.

In addition to WRAP® Wellness Recovery Action Plan, we offer MHFA® (Mental Health First Aid), bespoke stress management and resilience programmes as well as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

Dee Nixon

Chief Executive & Creative Programme Director
Although Dee started her career within psychiatric mental health nursing she has over twenty-seven years’ business experience within a variety of vertical markets these include print and broadcast media, marketing and event management, commercial banking and telecommunications. Dee has worked in Northern Ireland, the UK and Ireland as well as working in the USA. Dee has many years of experience as a director and in senior management, she is also a Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) facilitator.

Campbell Hamilton

Relationship Development Manager
Campbell has had a diverse career, mostly within the charitable sector in one way or another. His range of work has taken in youth and community work, personnel support, training and theological education.

He has lived and worked in several African countries and in the UK, and has been accredited tutor associated with the Universities of Uyo, Calabar, Lampeter and Chester. For the last ten years, he has written and delivered training in cross-cultural awareness and communication and is a qualified facilitator of WRAP® (Wellness Recovery Action Plan).

Nadia Sayers

Youth Development Officer
Nadia is qualified in both a BSc and MSc in Psychology and Mental Health therapies; she is also a highly experienced facilitator with a background working with suicide prevention charities, as well as charities working to deliver programmes for children’s education and children with ASD.

Nadia has also worked within modelling, promotions and pageants before finding that her real passion was for early intervention mental health services, and she has successfully combined these interests to help raise mental health awareness. She has also volunteered as a Youth Leader for 5 years with local youth clubs and been a member of a number of local youth committees too.

Lynn McClurg

Finance Manager
Lynn has worked in both the private & public sectors as well as working in the Third sector too. Lynn is a qualified Management Accountant with over 25 years accounting experience, preparing and reporting company management accounts to year-end.

She has also worked as a local councillor and as a volunteer for Jordanstown Deaf & Blind School, a GB officer for over 25 years and was regional treasurer for Women Together for Peace, Belfast until 1992

Ann Butler

Ann ButlerAnn first trained as a general nurse and has worked in the field of mental health for 24 years; she has a special interest in achieving health and wellness through self-management and self-care. She has extensive experience working within Acute Mental Health Care, Rehabilitation and Support & Recovery Services. Currently, she is also the WRAP Co-coordinator for the Southern Trust where she is an active member of the Recovery Steering Group responsible for advancing Recovery orientated practice within the Trust

She is also a holistic practitioner, practising Aromatherapy, reflexology, Homeopathy, Flower remedies and Colour Breathing Relaxation Therapy and Stress Management. Ann is an Advanced Level WRAP Facilitator (Wellness Recovery Action Planning) and has developed the use of this tool within the SHSCT over the past 3 years to help improve the overall health and wellbeing of staff, carers and those who access services. Her work includes information, training and facilitation of WRAP programmes and workshops to support individuals reach their full potential. The Nurse of The Year award was won in 2012 by Ann and her colleague John O’ Grady in recognition for their development and delivery of the pioneering WRAP training programme within the health service.

Damien McAleer

Damien has worked as a Registered Nurse and Tutor for 14 years. He has a keen interest in behaviour that challenges and completed his MSc dissertation in the same in 2009. He was first introduced to WRAP as a recovery model in 2010 and has since progressed to Advanced Facilitator training via the Copeland Centre Vermont in March 2013.

Gordon Higham

Gordon is an honours graduate of Trinity College Dublin and the University of Ulster and has a professional background in social work. He has also undertaken post-graduate work at the Tavistock Institute in London. As an Advocacy Manager with the Northern Ireland Association for Mental Health, Gordon sits on several committees including the Recovery Steering Group, Acute Governance Committee and the Public Health Authority Mental Health Core Pathway steering group.

With two other colleagues, Gordon co-produced and directed the Recovery in Action DVD “My Life my way forward…” which won the Regional Public Client Council Community Involvement award 2012. Gordon has also developed and run a nationally accredited Understanding Advocacy course for Peer Advocates, he also has certificates in both Train the Trainers and Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS).

As an Advanced Level Facilitator for WRAP (Wellness Recovery Action Plan), he has wide-ranging experience facilitating staff groups throughout Northern Ireland. He has a special interest in delivering WRAP into the workplace environment and as such has been involved in the adaptation and evolution of the key principles, values, ethics and methods used to deliver this programme.

John O'Grady

John has worked in the field of mental health and wellbeing for over 30 years. His specialist interests include Wellness and Recovery Training; he is an advanced Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) facilitator and was instrumental in introducing this approach into Northern Ireland.

He is a Storm (Skills Training in Risk Management) facilitator which equips people with the skills to intervene in self-harm management and again was instrumental in introducing this approach into Northern Ireland. He was also responsible for the introduction of the Knowledge and Understanding Framework (KUF) training on personality disorders into Northern Ireland as well as the Republic of Ireland. He managed the mental health and learning disability team at the Clinical Education Centre for many years and was responsible for the coordination of training across Northern Ireland to qualified health care professionals. John has lectured widely in mental health; he facilitates team building and now uses the WRAP approach to enhance the same. He and his colleague Anne were awarded the Nurse of the Year by the Royal College of Nursing in 2012 for this innovative work and for his introduction of WRAP into the Southern Health and Social care Trust.

Eilish Boyle

Eilish has worked in mental health care provision for the past 20 years. She has practiced as a clinical nurse in acute psychiatric care facilities caring for people with mental health problems such as depression, anxiety, schizophrenia and personality disorder. She has experience of audit, research and project management in developing and improving services. As a nurse educationalist Eilish has developed her passion in the promotion of mental health and wellbeing.

She is a facilitator for a number of recognised programmes including becoming an advanced facilitator for Wellness and Recovery Action Planning, more commonly referred to as (WRAP). She is also a facilitator for Skills Training in Risk Management (STORM) and Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) which help equip health care practitioners with the skills and knowledge to intervene when a person has thoughts of suicide and self-injury.

Paddy develops the national strategic vision for the Education, Training and Development of programmes of the Prince’s Trust in Northern Ireland, ensuring they are relevant, accessible and delivering excellence for young people.

He works closely with the Policy and Strategy team to determine the impact of external policies and research on the Trust’s Education, Training and Development programmes. He is also the only person in the UK licensed to offer courses in Mental Health First Aid for both England and Northern Ireland and is also a qualified Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) facilitator.

Brian Couchman

Brian has worked in the Civil Service (Department Of Justice) for 30 years. In that time he has shown he is a good communicator with proven interpersonal skills. He has experience working with Young People with specific needs and mental health issues.

He is used to working within a team environment whilst also being capable of using own initiative. Brian is highly skilled in dealing with staff conflict and is an experienced negotiator; he is also experienced in mediation techniques which achieve beneficial agreements for all. Brian is also a qualified Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) facilitator.
